#BreakingNews 4 Nuns Die in car accident - RIP Sisters of the Daughters of St. Anne in Ethiopia


Addis Ababa (Agenzia Fides) - The Church in Ethiopia is mourning the deaths of four religious sisters of the Congregation of the Daughters of St. Anne who died in a car accident, a fifth is in a coma and two were critically injured. Eight sisters, aged between 25 and 50, were driving to the city of Hawassa for a funeral of one sister’s relative. Near the east-central Ethiopian town of Meki, a truck overtook them on the road, causing the accident. "It is a great loss for the Ethiopian Church", said Father Angelo Antolini, Prefect Apostolic of Robe to Fides. The funeral will be celebrated today March 9, in the Cathedral of Addis Ababa at 12 pm with Cardinal Berhaneyesus Demerew Souraphiel, C.M., President of the Episcopal Conference of Ethiopia, the Nuncio and all the Ethiopian Bishops. The dead were confirmed by CNEWA as Sister Weinshet Gebru, the provincial superior and head of a formation house; Sister Motu Baba, former administrator of Guder Girls’ Orphanage; and Sister Hanna Bekute, former director of Guder Catholic School.
