Wow #PopeFrancis visits former Prostitutes in Rome - Rescued from Trafficking to bring Mercy - SHARE

OnFriday, August 12, 2016 Pope Francis visited a refugee home in Rome housing women rescued from the sex trade.This visit is part of his ‘Friday of Mercy’ for the Jubilee Year of Mercy. The Pope John the 23rd community runs the home. Pope Francis met 20 women who were freed from the sex trade that were taken from their home countries. These countries included Romania, Albania, Nigeria, Tunisia, Ukraine, and Italy. The women had suffered severe physical abuse during their time as sex workers and now live in protection. The Holy See Press office explained that this visit showed need to fight against human trafficking. Pope Francis described trafficking as “a crime against humanity” and “an open wound on the body of contemporary society, a scourge upon the body of Christ”.
