VATICAN: POPE APPOINTS AUXILIARY BISHOP OF HUNGARY

APPOINTMENT OF THE ARCHDIOCESE OF AUXILIARY EGER (HUNGARY)

The Holy Father Benedict XVI has named Auxiliary Bishop of the Archdiocese of Eger Rev.do Ferenc Palanka, the clergy of the diocese of Vác, Spiritual Director of the Seminar Propedeutico so far, giving him the titular bishop of Fidoloma.

Rev.do Ferenc Palanka
The Rev.do Ferenc Palanka was born on 11 March 1964 in Balassagyarmat. He completed his secondary studies in Balassagyarmat in the years 1978-82. At the Institute of Győr has a degree in telecommunications (1983-87). He studied philosophy and theology at the Higher Institute of Theology in Esztergom. He obtained a license from the Faculty of Canon Law at Catholic University Pázmány Péter Budapest.
He was ordained a priest June 18, 1994 the diocese of Vac.
He then held the following positions: curate of Balassagyarmat (1994-96); Dorogháza Parish (1996-2000), pastor of Püspökszilágy (2000-2005).
